The results of this engagement project will be shared with Healthwatch England to produce a National evidence base that will inform the development and implementation of the specifc activities discussed within the Long Term Plan

Conclusions 

  • Service across Manchester is inconsistent.
  • Some people reported waiting a long time for a diagnosis.
  • Some people did not feel adequately supported with information and advice post diagnosis.
  • People felt they either had to fight for support or weren't getting any.

Healthwatch found that people value having advocates to support people when accessing health services

Response: as part of the Advocacy priority on our strategy we are looking to develop a GM approach to citizen advocacy by spring 2020

In the report Healthwatch found transport can be a barrier

Response: This is being picked up as part of tackling social isolation, but we have also recently connected with Transport for Greater Manchester with regards to improving public transport
